In 1999, we preferred a polar motor boat to the sailboat that we had been using for 4 seasons. The wind conditions in Spitzbergen are generally generally weak and 80% of the movements were made with the engine. On the other hand when "it blows", it is far beyond what the "pleasure sailing" requires ... From then on, we opted for an old Danish polar boat, rich in history, designed and built to work on maintenance of lighthouses and buoys in Greenland. All the constraints of condensation, water saving, promiscuity, heating, etc., inherent in the sailboat, are now forgotten. We also want to stay in a good compromise between comfort and prices.
The boat is really at the service of our objective: to make you discover the most interesting sites of Spitsbergen and to make a maximum of animal observations. Adapted to ice navigation, "Isbjorn II" allows us to approach the glaciers more closely or to "rub shoulders" with the drifting ice pack if it does us the honor of going down to the coast.
You are certain to feel comfortable, certain that you will eat well. Highly appreciated when you return from your outings. All types of clients find that this boat suites their needs - even the most demanding clients.
See "Dates and prices" on the page "Discovery in Spitzberg".
